Course Summary

In line with the RICS financial modelling competency, this certificate will ensure that delegates are able to demonstrate that they can develop and apply property cash flows in Excel in order to provide detailed and reasoned advice on the performance of investment and development scenarios.

Learning outcomes:

– Construct robust and fully automated multi-tenant property cash flows from scratch
– Be able to audit third-party cash flows
– Understand how cash flow inputs and outputs are interlinked and how to test for errors
– Develop and produce sensitivity and scenario analysis
– Be able to give investment recommendation based on quantitative methods

Learning Resources

Each module is made up of the following resources to support the learning requirements:

  • Face to face sessions – 6 or 12 formal CPD hour per module (1 or 2 days each module)
  • Financial models – We provide different financial models covering different assets; office, hotel, PRS, logistics, retail.
  • Case studies – In each module, we will run through a case study specific to the topic covered in class. For example, in the Investment module, we may cover the investment analysis of an office building; in the development module, we may cover the development of a PRS scheme and so on.
  • Masterclass + Worked Example – This 1-day class will cover all the material taught in the 5 modules and delegates will do a 2-hour worked example at the end of the class.
  • RICS Certification – In order to obtain the certificate, delegates are required to attend the Real Estate Financial Modelling Masterclass and successfully complete the worked example.
